The Aboitiz Foundation Green Fashion Revolution 2014 unleashed young Cebu Designers couture ingenuity and at the same time highlights the importance of the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3Rs) – as it challenged competing students from Cebu Institute of Technology-University, Cebu Normal University, University of San Carlos, and University of the Philippines Cebu to make good use of recycled materials in creating clothing, footwear, and accessories on October 18, Saturday, at the SM City Cebu Trade Hall.
Green Fashion Revolution was the brainchild of a group of Aboitiz scholars during the Aboitiz Scholars’ CSR Summit in December 2011. Green Fashion Revolution as pioneered in Cebu, organizers is planning to bring the same concept to schools in Metro Manila.
This year, Green Fashion Revolution 2014 with theme, ECOUTURE: Green Design for a Better World
expands the award categories reflecting the theme. The new set of awards are Best Clothing Design, Best Accessories Design, Best Bag Design, Best Footwear Design, Best Male Model, and Best Female Model. See below Special awards for Green Fashion Revolution 2014.
Weeks before the main event, students underwent a basic fashion design workshop conducted by top Cebu couturier Dexter Alazas. Entries have also undergone prejudging as part of the process to screen the best collections.

Here's a clip shown to the students spectators about the Mega Cebu initiative of the Metro Cebu Development and Coordinating Board (MCDCB) entitled "Making WAVES with Mega Bai and Mega Dai!" W.A.V.E.S.= Wholesome, Advanced, Vibrant, Equitable & Sustainable. Along with designs for clothes and accessories, each participating University has a proposed environmental intervention program for their adopted barangay. Green Fashion Revolution 2013 winning team provided their beneficiary barangay with livelihood training in creating bags from used tarpaulin.
