A recent heritage and culinary tour in Olango Island with Cebu Bloggers and friends from the City of Lapu-Lapu exceeds our expectation to the Island located East of Lapu-Lapu City or Mactan Island. The tour summary in distance was approximately 25km by motorcycle ride and by bicycle. This blog will share you some pictures taken from the tour and will give some tips on Olango Island Tour.

There's a regular motor boat schedule trip daily from the mainland (Lapu-Lapu City through Hilton Port next to Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu) to Sta Rosa Port in Olango Island.As of this writing the fare is 15 pesos, if you're bringing with you a bike just add 10 pesos. The Hilton Port also serves trips bound for Bohol via Getafe town.

After the sumptuous breakfast in Brgy Tungasan, we headed to Olango Island Wildlife Santuary in Brgy San Vicente. Rates for Olango Bird Sanctuary observation is 20 pesos for Adults, 10 pesos for Students and Foreigners at 100 pesos. The best time to go for bird watching is when water 2/3 of the scheduled high tide level.

To sustain the needs of the Oponganons in the Island, a Lapu Lapu City Hall is situated in Brgy Talima. The compund also includes a Police station.
Puto Balanghoy/Tingkahoy Kinamayan ug Tab-ang (white and sugar flavor), or Cassava.
Adelicacy delight that is abundant in Olango Island specifically in Brgy Baring is the local version of Cassava Cake. Locally it is called Puto Tingkahoy or Puto Balanghoy.Puto Tingkahoy is last resort for locals if catches from the sea is limited due to bad weather.
A Popular edible Sea Shells in Olango Island called Saang is mouth-watering.
Saang is usually priced at 5 pesos for small size in Brgy Tingo. You can placed your order and just wait for 15 minutes for your order to be served.

On our way to Brgy Sabang you can pass by some vast green pastures like the one above.
Salpu, a local cuisine cooked from sauteed sea Cucumber fried to crunchiness.
Salpu is served as we step by Brgy Sabang. This another culinary tradition that people in the island does when there are abundance of Sea cucumber and less in sea shells or fishes.
An abundant fruit in Olango Island is Coconut or Lubi/Buko in local dialect.
